Do I need both Claude and Codex?
No. Use Codex with your existing subscription, or Claude with an Anthropic API key — depending on your setup. You do not need both. GuideLayer does not route Claude through a Free/Pro/Max subscription login.
What stays private?
GuideLayer does not route inference through a GuideLayer cloud. Keys stay in Keychain. Screen capture is on demand. Website download fulfillment and license verification are separate from the inference path.
Is this a subscription?
No. You get a 30-day full-feature trial. After that, Lite stays free forever for the core voice and screen-help loop, or buy a one-time $79 license for the full product on up to 3 Macs.
